The project kickoff meeting is the beginning of a project where all of the stakeholders get together to discuss the foundation of the project, what needs to be accomplished, and who is going to accomplish which tasks. The kickoff sets the tone for the whole project so it’s important to get it right. There’s a lot of ground to cover in this first meeting to make sure that each person understands where you’re going and how you’re going to get there.
You’ll discuss a whole array of topics like tasks, schedules, budgets, issues, risks, and more. When you have so many things to talk about, you’re at risk of going deep into rabbit holes that aren’t relevant. Use this template to stay focused on the important topics for this project.
Each person should leave the meeting confident that they could explain the project purpose and timeline to someone else, articulate their role, and when their work needs to be completed by.
